Reactivity and Herding Specialist
Woofing Wild specialty is reactive dogs, reactivity is the term used when our dogs 'over-react'. This can be seen to present as agression, lunging, barking, hackles going up towards a trigger; this can be a dog, person, object, livestock, you name it!
We work on the philosphy that our dogs can only respond one way, this is usually down to fight or flight. A perfectly normal reaction, just one that displays a little more different to what we expect. We have an expectation of our dogs to be sociable butterfiles, the most common thing I hear is "our dog needs daily social interaction" this isn't wrong, however what we choose to do is allow our dogs to go and run for 45 minutes in the park with 20 strange off lead dogs. How our dogs need social interaction is very different to what we are lead to believe. There's loads of reason why our dogs can be reactive, it could be that your dog got attacked as a puppy, it could be that your dog is a romanian rescue, that your dog is in pain or simply that your dog is nervous.
There's so much judgement around owning a reactive dog, we understand first hand how emotionally challenging and difficult it can be, it can feel isolating and embrassing. You are not alone. Woofing Wild has created a community of owners struggling with the same host of problems. We are here to help give you and your dog a chance to be understood.
So why choose us?
Firstly I'm the proud owner of a 2 year old reactive male dog! After I spent 6 months training and socialising my puppy I still ended up with a reactive dog, my reactive dog is just nervous by nature and that's okay; so we have lots of ownership understanding. Secondly I've dedicated the last 10 years working specifically with reactive/nervous dogs. Thirdly our sessions are unlike any other we set dogs and their owners up for success, we work towards realistic goals, we set up real life training scenario's and create a happy dog and owner. We believe in helping support owners, not just your dog.
